Polysaccharide

What is a polysaccharide?

Polysaccharides are molecules formed by the union of monosaccharides.

According to their composition, they can be homopolysaccharides, when they are formed by the repetition of a monosaccharide; or heteropolysaccharides, when they are formed by an ordered repetition of a disaccharide formed by two different monosaccharides.

They take care of the energy reserve and maintain the organic structure.
